OUR HISTORY
Our
mission is to protect and improve the quality of life in
Hidden Valley.
In 1998 the Hidden Valley Residents Association was
formed. It was initially organized to effectively respond to
a proposal for a school bond to construct 3 schools at the
end of Palermo Dr.
At a public meeting and in literature sent out by the
Santa Barbara school board it was stated
that Palermo would not be used as an access for the
schools. After the passage of the bond the school
board informed us
that Palermo would be THE ACCESS. This meant
that our streets would have hundreds of cars driving to the
school site. The board members went door to door and asked
for signatures to assure that there would be a complete
environmental impact report and that access would not
be through our neighborhood. We collected over 700
signatures. We continue to monitor any proposals for the
development of this property.
As a result deceitful
conduct of the Santa Barbara school board the Hidden
Valley Residents association has grown into the largest incorporated Resident’s Association
in Santa Barbara. Our neighborhood is a great place in which
to live; to raise children; and to also retire. We, as an
organization, are dedicated to keeping it that way and we
can with your continued help.
